Ofgem appoints new chief operating officer and senior partner for networks

Ofgem has appointed Sarah Cox as the new chief operating officer and Jonathan Brearley as senior partner for networks. They will join in May.

The Chief Operating Officer is a new role that will support the chief executive and the board on the continued development of the organisation. Sarah joins from the Department of Work and Pensions where she is currently Director of Deliver in Business Transformation Group covering digital and project delivery capability and has also led the department’s work on Pensions Transformation. Interim chief operating office, David Gillies will return to his role as Director of HR when Sarah joins.

Jonathan Brearley will lead Ofgem’s important work regulating the monopoly energy networks. He has a wealth of energy sector experience, having led the Department of Energy and Climate’s electricity market reforms. Maxine Frerk, will continue as acting senior partner for networks until Jonathan starts.
