The Environmental Discretionary Reward (EDR) is designed to encourage and recognise good environmental performance from the three companies who own the electricity transmission networks.  It takes account of activities to promote low carbon energy and to achieve high standards in environmental management, and is now in its second year.   We are pleased to announce the first award under the scheme to National Grid Electricity Transmission.  This recognises good progress in developing a clear strategy and embedding change into management and procurement.  The other two transmission companies failed to demonstrate sufficient evidence to receive a reward, although some progress has been demonstrated  by  Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission.  We encourage all three companies to build on feedback to deliver tangible improvements to their environmental performance over the next year.
