Renewable Statistics background information
The Renewables and CHP Register
On 1 April 2008, Ofgem introduced the Renewables and CHP Register, an electronic web based system used to manage the renewable and CHP schemes that Ofgem administers on behalf of government, namely the Renewables Obligation (RO), the Climate Change Levy (CCL) and the Renewable Electricity Guarantees of Origin (REGOs).
Details of ROCs issued (RO)
The Renewables and CHP Register allows users instant access to real time data, including details of the total number of Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) issued. Users can access this information through the Renewables and CHP Register - link opens in a new browser window.
Details of total ROCs claimed but not issued
Ofgem is obliged to publish the total number of ROCs that have been claimed but not yet issued.
Details of the total number of ROCs claimed but not issued in the 2007/08 obligation period are available here.
Details of the total number of ROCs claimed but not issued in the 2008/09 obligation period will be available via the Renewables and CHP Register after ROCs for April 2008 have been issued - probably around 15 July 2008.
Details of the number of ROCs revoked
This information is available via the public reports page on the Renewables and CHP Register. Please choose the 'certificates' report and change the certificate status to revoked, using the drop down menu. You can limit your search to a certain period or generating station. We will continue to publish a list of ROCs that were revoked prior to April 2006 on our website.
Historic ROC data
We will continue to publish historic ROC data on this page of our website, which can be accessed by clicking on the links below:
Details of Levy Exempt Certificates (LECs) issued under the CCL
Under the Climate Change Levy (CCL) regulations we publish statistics relating to Renewables and CHP Levy exemptions. These are available for the last few years from the links shown in the table and the bottom of this page.
Accreditation and preliminary accreditation
We have published details of generating stations granted accreditation under the RO, REGO and CCL legislation – this information can be accessed by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page. A separate list covering preliminary accreditation of generating stations will be published on this webpage shortly.
