As the Smart Metering Implementation Programme analysed the responses and prepared the response the Minister for Energy Charles Hendry and Chairman of the Gas and Electricity Markets, GEMA, Lord Mogg, issued an update letter in December 2010.

The scope of the consultation included:

  • design requirements of the smart metering system;
  • central communications and data management; and
  • approach to rollout.
