Ofgem E-Serve is to hold a Warm Home Discount (WHD) Industry Initiative workshop in Birmingham on 23 February 2017.
The purpose of the event is to facilitate dialogue between energy suppliers who participate in the WHD scheme and third party organisations with proposals for specific WHD Industry Initiatives.
Scheme year 7 of the WHD is due to commence on 1 June 2017 and run to 31 March 2018. We hope that holding this event in February will give suppliers’ and stakeholders sufficient time to plan Industry Initiatives in preparation for the new scheme year.
What are Industry Initiatives?
Under the WHD scheme, larger energy suppliers deliver support to people living in fuel poverty or who are at risk of fuel poverty. Suppliers can choose to deliver some of this support through Industry Initiatives, usually in partnership with other third party organisations. These are projects that help assist customers through a range of activities that aim to help with energy bills or energy usage.
An Industry Initiative must be an activity permitted under Schedule 4 of the Warm Home Discount regulations (the Warm Home Discount Regulations 2011 as amended by the Warm Home Discount (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2015/6). You can find more detail about ‘permitted activities’ under Industry Initiatives in Chapter 7 of our WHD scheme guidance.
How will the event work?
Third parties will be able to meet a range of participating energy suppliers and propose specific ideas for Industry Initiatives. Third parties should ensure their proposals meet the requirements outlined in our guidance, so that a supplier willing to become involved in the project will be able to take it forward as soon as possible.
The event will run from 13:00-15:30 and take place at The Priory Rooms, Quaker Meeting House, 40 Bull Street, Birmingham, B4 6AF.
If you have a specific proposal in mind which is likely to meet the requirements for targeting support, and are interested in attending the event, then please contact WHD@ofgem.gov.uk to confirm your attendance by Friday 3 February 2017. Please provide details of your proposal when confirming your attendance.
Similarly, if you have any questions about Industry Initiatives or the event, please contact the above address.
