Ofgem will soon issue a Request for Information (RFI) about the potential impacts of moving to market-wide half hourly electricity settlement. To ensure the RFI is comprehensive and clear, we published a letter inviting comments on the scope and clarity of the draft RFI on 10 July. We also published a spreadsheet with the questions we proposed to ask stakeholders and columns for you to input your answers.

As part of seeking feedback on clarity, we specifically sought views on whether the data input areas were arranged logically and accessibly. We noted that in order to collect standardised data we had applied some data validation conditions on the input cells (i.e. dropdown lists to choose among different unit costs and uncertainty margins). Unfortunately, in the spreadsheet we originally published last week the data validation conditions didn't work. We have now fixed that error.

We would kindly ask you to review that section again (columns G to N) and provide any comments you might have. We are especially interested in your views on the options available for unit costs and uncertainty margins, and on whether the associated descriptions are appropriate. Please send your comments about this and any other aspect of the draft RFI to the team at halfhourlysettlement@ofgem.gov.uk no later than 5pm on 24 July.

We look forward to hearing from you.
