Notice of decision to impose a financial penalty on Utilita Energy Limited following our investigation into its compliance with its obligations under Standard Licence Condition 14 (SLC 14) of their gas and electricity supply licences

The Authority has confirmed its decision to impose a financial penalty on Utilita Energy Limited following an investigation into its compliance with its obligations under SLC 14.1, SLC 14.4(c), SLC 14.6, SLC 14.9 and SLC 14.10.

The Authority found that Utilita breached the SLCs listed above; Utilita admitted the breaches.

The Authority has confirmed its decision to impose a financial penalty of £1. This is in addition to £450,000 (less £1) that Utilita has agreed to pay to the UK debt charity StepChange. Utilita will also refund up to £110,000 to customers who lost out financially after being wrongly stopped from switching. Any unclaimed money will go to StepChange.
