Dear Sir/Madam,

Feed-in Tariff (FIT): Guidance for Licensed Electricity Suppliers – Update to Guidance on Ofgem Powers Relating to Accredited FIT Installations

This open letter provides details of the new sections to be inserted into the ‘Feed-in Tariff: Guidance for Licensed Electricity Suppliers’ regarding our powers in relation to accredited FIT installations, as a result of amendments to The Feed-in Tariffs Order 2012 as well as a number of modifications to the Standard Conditions of Electricity Supply Licences. These came into force on 1 December 2012 (1).

These amendments to the legislation describe some specific situations where we are able to:

  • withdraw accreditation
  • suspend accreditation
  • change the tariff code
  • attach conditions on the accreditation
  • amend conditions of accreditation.

To clarify our powers, more detail is provided in Appendix 1 of this letter. We intend to insert Appendix 1 into Version 6 of the ‘Feed-in Tariff: Guidance for Licensed Electricity Suppliers’ (2) document. This version is to be published in Autumn 2013 following separate work to incorporate feedback concerning other new sections of the guidance (3). Additionally, we intend to insert Appendix 2 into the ‘Feed-in Tariff: Central FIT Register User Guide’ (4) document, due to be republished by Autumn 2013.

The Appendices of this letter take effect immediately and should be used as guidance until the publication of the updated Guidance documentation.
