The default tariff cap came in to force on 1 January 2019 – a temporary cap on standard variable tariffs and fixed term default tariffs. In accordance with the licence requirements, we run an update process twice a year, to ensure the default tariff cap reflects changes in the cost of supplying energy.
On 7 August 2019, we published the cap levels that will come in to force for the third charge restriction period (“cap period”) from 1 October 2019 – 31 March 2020. The updated versions of the underlying models have also been published.
You can view all historical information and publications relating to the design of the cap on our policy pages for the default tariff cap.
