This decision sets out the licence modifications we will make as a consequence of the end of the transition period, to ensure licences are fit for purpose.

The modifications set out in the accompanying documents include the changes to our licences as consulted on in the following consultations:

  • Statutory consultation on licence modifications in the event the UK leaves the European Union without a deal (14 January 2019);
  • Statutory consultation on changes to the National Grid (NGESO) electricity transmission licence (4 July 2019); and
  • Statutory consultation on consequential licence modifications due to the end of the transition period (26 November 2020).

On 24 December 2020 a Trade and Cooperation agreement between the UK and the EU was announced. We consider that these licence changes are still required to reflect amendments to UK law as a consequence of the end of the transition period.
