We have awarded funding to four SP Energy Networks projects:
Charge
This project aims to engage with relevant stakeholders across network, transport, and planning to develop and trial electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions. The project will investigate the ability of smart control, storage, and active network management (ANM) systems to provide lower connection and operational costs to customers. The project aims to develop a DNO-led strategy to facilitate and accelerate the electrification of transport, and more specifically, the connection of charging infrastructure.
Fusion
This project will trial commoditised local demand-side flexibility through a structured and competitive market-based framework, enabling the DNO and all market actors to unlock the value of local network flexibility. The project will aim to demonstrate how DNOs can harness this flexibility to efficiently manage modernised networks.
LV Engine
This project will carry out a trial of Solid State Transformers at secondary substations for the purpose of enhancing network flexibility and releasing additional capacity within existing low voltage infrastructure to facilitate the increasing uptake of Low Carbon Technologies.
ANGLE DC
The project aims to demonstrate a novel network reinforcement technique by converting an existing 33kV AC circuit to DC operation. This could release additional capacity.
