Feed-In Tariff (FIT) rates

Here you can find the tariff rates available under the FIT scheme. The tariff rate tables for all installations have been determined and published in accordance with the Feed-in Tariffs Order 2012 (as amended).

Tariff rates are set by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). Please find the tariff tables for the current FIT Year below in the collapsible tables, or alternatively see future tariff rates.

The below tariffs were updated on Friday 5 October 2018, and are effective from 1 October 2018 to 31 December 2018.

Information about the FIT scheme

The FIT scheme is a government programme designed to promote the uptake of small-scale renewable and low-carbon electricity generation technologies. Introduced on 1 April 2010, the scheme requires participating licensed electricity suppliers (FIT Licensees) to make payments on both generation and export from eligible installations. 

Once you’re accredited, a tariff will be assigned to your installation based on a number of factors including but not limited to technology, Total Installed Capacity (TIC), and your position in deployment caps. For more information, see Feed-in Tariffs deployment caps reports.

FIT payments are made based on meter readings taken from compliant metering and submitted to the elected FIT Licensee. For more information, see FIT licensee contact details.

Tariff table information

Important things to note:

  1. Please note that the summary tables below do not show all the tariff bandings. You can find the full tariff bandings in the 'Feed-in-Tariff (FIT): Tariff table 1 April 2010 – 1 April 2018’ spreadsheet below.
  2. Tariff rates are adjusted annually, in line the Retail Prices Index (RPI). The tables below reflect the current FIT year rate for all tariffs.
  3. Deployment caps have applied to the scheme since 8 February 2016.These limit the capacity that can receive a particular FIT tariff rate in a particular tariff period.
  4. The Higher, Middle and Lower tariff rates are only applicable to solar PV installations, the rating is based on if the Energy Efficiency Requirement for the building that the PV is wired to provide electricity to has been met and if the owner has multiple installations:
    • Higher- EPC of level D or above was issued before the commissioning date of the installation, and the owner does not have 25 or more installations
    • Middle- EPC of level D or above was issued before the commissioning date of the installation, and the owner does have 25 or more installations
    • Lower- EPC of level D or above was not issued before the commissioning date of the installation

These installations will be eligible to receive FIT support from the date the installation was commissioned at the FIT tariffs available on the date the installation commissioned.

Applications for full FIT accreditation submitted on or after 15 January 2016 and all applications for FIT preliminary accreditation submitted on or after 8 February 2016 are subject to deployments caps.
