The Security Technical Expert Group (STEG) was set up following publication of the Prospectus to help progress to implementation.
There is a strong emphasis on ensuring the additional information smart meters will provide is appropriately controlled and that privacy and security issues are properly addressed to protect the rights of consumers.
The Privacy and Security Advisory Group has provided advice on privacy and security. While ultimate responsibility sits with industry, the programme has overseen the arrangements to ensure appropriate obligations, governance and the necessary regulatory framework to protect privacy, confidentiality and network security are in place.
