Ongoing obligations and existing participants

Participants are required to comply with a range of ongoing obligations to remain eligible under the scheme. For a full explanation on what these are, please read Volume Two of the RHI Guidance document.

Ongoing obligations

Participants must provide Ofgem with periodic data on a quarterly basis (installations larger than 1MWth must provide this on a monthly basis), in order for us to calculate the tariff payment owed to you for the quarter.

If your installation has more than 10 meters, you are required to provide periodic data to Ofgem using a template that can be found below. There is also a Guide, available below, explaining how this needs to be completed.

Other ongoing obligations include:

  • to ensure access for Ofgem (or our authorised agents) to non-domestic third party premises for the purpose of verifying eligible heat use
  • to maintain your RHI installation and associated equipment
  • to inform Ofgem within 28 days of any changes to your accredited installation or to the heating system which your accredited installation forms part
  • to inform Ofgem of any change in ownership or other circumstances that may affect your participation in the RHI.

Payments

Ofgem will aim to pay participants their quarterly payments within 6 weeks of receipt of valid periodic data. Where there are delays due to insufficient or inaccurate information being provided, payments may be delayed. For further guidance, please refer to Chapter 5, Volume 2 of the Guidance.

Additional information

Ofgem will keep participants informed of any changes to the scheme in the future. We will publish trend data about the scheme as it progresses on this website.
