Microgeneration and distributed energy developments
The following developments have occured on the microgeneration and distributed energy fronts:
In the 2007 Budget, the Chancellor requested Ofgem to review the effectiveness of the market for exported electricity for microgeneration. Ofgem thus prepared a 'Review of the market for exported electricity from microgeneration'. The report was published on 11 March 2008.
In terms of DE, the Energy White Paper (EWP), published in May 2007, set an action for Ofgem and BERR to consult by the end of 2007 on "more flexible" market and licensing arrangements suitable for DE, with implementation by the end of 2008. On 18th December 2007, a joint Ofgem/BERR Distributed Energy (DE) Consultation document was published. The deadline for submissions has now passed and responses are being analysed.
