Ofgem has important duties relating to the environment and sustainable development, and the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry has provided statutory guidance on environmental matters to which we must have regard. Our work reflects our commitment to our new sustainable development duty.
We are committed to playing our part in facilitating the transition to a low carbon energy sector. We take full account of the impact on the environment across the range of our decision-making. We contribute to the debate on how to reduce carbon emissions from the energy sector in the most cost-effective manner, and will continue to administer Government environmental programmes (such as the Renewables Obligation, Climate Change Levy exemptions and the Carbon Emission Reduction Target) efficiently and effectively.
Our published documents fall into two broad categories, those relating to Environmental Policy and those relating to our administration of Government Environmental Programmes.
