Embedded transmission

Onshore in England and Wales, 132kV electricity lines form part of the distribution grid.  However, Offshore Transmission is defined as being offshore lines rated at 132kV and above.  A new type of connection has thus been created by the new regime, where an offshore transmission system connects into an onshore distribution system.  This new category of connection has been termed “embedded transmission”.

This page hosts documents relating to the work that has been specifically carried out to deal with the issues created by these connections.
