This section sets out the work that Ofgem is doing with DTI to remove the barriers to Distributed Energy that may exist within the electricity market and the electricity licensing arrangements.
The importance of this work was flagged in the Energy White Paper which recognises the role that distribution connected renewable energy and good quality CHP can play in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the diversity of supply.
We have set up a working group to discuss the barriers and to propose solutions. Towards the end of this year we will be consulting on a proposed package of measures to address the market and regulatory barriers, with a view to implementing measures by the end of 2008.
