Every year, Ofgem asks National Grid as System Operator of both the Great Britain gas and electricity systems to carry out a detailed outlook for the winter ahead.
Traditionally, winter, as defined as October through till March, is the most challenging time on both systems due to the colder weather leading to higher demand. To facilitate as wide and as open a consultation as possible with this process, Ofgem runs an open seminar series alongside publication of National Grid’s consultation and final outlook documents in the lead up to the winter period.
These seminars provide an opportunity for customers and market participants alike to hear industry stakeholders discuss and debate different perspectives on the supply and demand outlook, plus the risks and challenges for the winter ahead.
