In order for the energy markets to operate most effectively, an active supply and demand side is required. The Demand Side Working Group (DSWG) was set up by Ofgem in order to identify and address any practical and/or commercial obstacles to demand side participation in the wholesale gas or electricity trading arrangements.
This group meets at Ofgem on a regular 6-8 weekly basis at Ofgem and is attended by a wide range of industry stakeholders including shippers, suppliers and importantly, large customer representatives. In recent years, change proposals developed by the DSWG have resulted in positive developments by way of greater information transparency and improved product offerings to GB customers.
