Ofgem considers gas and electricity licence applications and decides whether or not to grant a licence in accordance with our published objectives and non-discriminatory criteria and procedures. For further information on licensing, please see our Licensing Work pages

Standard Licence Conditions and Licences

If you would like to view the standard licence conditions of a licence, or would like to see an individual licensee’s licence, you can find these on the electronic Public Register (ePR) - link opens in a new browser window.

Complaints

If you have a complaint about a specific licensee, you can find more information on how to complain at the consumers pages of the Ofgem website.

If the information you require is not covered in our pages on licensing, or if you have a query that you wish to discuss further please contact the licensing team at licensing@ofgem.gov.uk.

The industry codes

The licences require the establishment of a number of industry codes that underpin the gas and electricity markets.  Details of current and recent projects that cut across several codes are available via the 'Industry Codes Work' tab to the left, whilst code specific activity is detailed on the 'Electricity Codes' and 'Gas Codes' tabs.
