Following recent concerns about the energy market we recently announced that we would investigate the energy market for domestic and small business customers.
The investigation will look at consumers’ experiences of the market and try to identify any issues that prevent customers switching supplier or that prevent the market from working properly. They will also closely examine how competitive the prices that suppliers charge are.
On 26 March we published an open letter asking for evidence about the market from consumers and other industry parties. The deadline for providing evidence closed April 30th 2008. Ofgem is now considering the evidence and we intend to publish our initial findings by late September 2008. Our Energy Supply Probe page provides more information about the investigation.
