Matthew Harnack joined Ofgem in October 2007. He leads the team responsible for setting up new environmental and social schemes which Ofgem E-Serve administer on behalf of Government, and for implementing major changes to existing environmental and social schemes. His team is currently responsible for setting up Ofgem’s activities for the following schemes:
- The Renewable Heat Incentive
- The Warm Home Discount scheme
- Implementation of changes to the Feed-in Tariff Scheme
- Introduction of biomass sustainability reporting for the RO (bioliquids and biosolids)
Prior to his current role, Matthew was Head of Renewables and CHP at Ofgem, leading the team which runs the RO, CCL, REGO and NFFO schemes. Before working for Ofgem Matthew spent 10 years working in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Australia, managing the New South Wales Government’s portfolio of voluntary initiatives for supporting sustainable energy and managing flagship national schemes including the National GreenPower Accreditation Scheme and the National Australian Built Environment Rating System.
