Robert Hull was appointed Managing Director, Commercial at Ofgem in 2009. He leads Ofgem’s design and delivery of new regulatory regimes to attract investment into low-carbon generation or energy efficiency. These include the introduction of a competitive tendering regime for offshore transmission networks, and the national roll-out of smart metering.
In 2005, he joined Ofgem as Transmission Director, responsible for electricity and gas regulatory policy, including the 2007-12 transmission price control review. Prior to that, he was an international Business Development Director with National Grid plc, where he also held a number of commercial and technical roles in the UK and overseas. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and MBA graduate.
