Lifestyle options: supporting working parents, supporting carers, supporting you
We recognise that whatever job you do at whatever level, you need to strike a balance between your work and home life – whether you are a parent, a carer or you wish to pursue a leisure interest. We have developed a range of policies, many of which go beyond our legal obligation as an employer, to help you do just that.
We operate a flexi-time system which allows staff to work hours that suit their lifestyle and responsibilities – although access to this scheme is of course dependent on Ofgem’s operational needs.
Staff at Ofgem have the right to request alternative work patterns, e.g. part-time or compressed hours. The technology is also in place to allow staff to work from home. We will consider requests to work in alternative patterns or to work from home but the final decision is of course dependent on Ofgem’s operational needs.
We work with Busy Bees to provide staff who have parental responsibilities with the option to save the tax on £243 per month of their salary to pay nursery or childcare providers.
We will consider requests for career breaks, of course dependent on the needs of Ofgem.
