Procedures and Dates

Please return the form to info@peter-lockyer.com or by post to: Peter Lockyer Graduate Response Management, 1st Floor, Colechurch House, One London Bridge Walk, London SE1 2SX.
The application process for the 2010 programme will involve a number of stages. Please ensure you read this section carefully and make a note of the key dates in your diary as they cannot be changed.
- Application process opens 5th October 2009
- Submit Word application form by 4th December 2009
- You will receive an automated e-mail to acknowledge your application w/c 11th January 2009
- Telephone interviews w/c 11th & 18th January 2010
- Invitations to Assessment Centre w/c 25th January 2010
- Attend Assessment Centre – 10th February (Day 1) & 3rd March 2010 (Day 2) NB: The Assessment Centre will be held over 2 separate days - if you are successful on Day 1 (psychometric testing) you will be invited to attend Day 2 (competency-based exercises). The Assessment Centre will be held at Ofgem’s offices in Westminster.
- Job offers made and unsuccessful candidates offered feedback by 12th March 2010
- Successful graduates start programme w/c 13th September 2010
Hints and Tips for completing the Application Form
Completing application forms can be time consuming not to mention hard work. Follow these simple steps to ensure you make the most of your application.
General Information
- Read and follow instructions for each section of the form carefully.
- Check and double check everything you write – once submitted you will not be able to change your application
Completing the Supporting Statement
Your supporting statement should include the following information:
- Additional Information - other knowledge and experience; scholarships / awards, etc
- Reasons for Applying - in no more than 300 words you should outline what particularly appeals to you about working for Ofgem and what you could bring to the organisation.
- Core Competencies - please give examples (no more than 300 words) for each of the competencies below, from your previous work experience, time at university and hobbies. The evidence of how you went about it is the important thing, not where you take the example from. Set the scene for the example, describe your particular role in it, the steps you took and the skills / strategies you used, the end result, any problems you encountered and how you overcame them.
Analysis and use of evidence - Give an example of a time when you had to analyse complex data and draw relevant conclusions.
Leadership - Give an example of a situation where you had to take on the role of leader, what skills you used and the results achieved.
Communication - Give an example of a situation where you have used your communication skills to achieve a positive outcome.
Adaptability and ability to handle change - Give an example of a situation where you have been faced with a change in circumstances and how you handled this.
