What does Ofgem do?
Ofgem is the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets. It is the regulator for Britain’s gas and electricity industries. Our role is to promote choice and value for current and future customers.
How are we governed?
Ofgem is governed by an Authority, consisting of non-executive and executive members. The Authority determines strategy, takes all major decisions and sets policy priorities.
How are we funded?
We recover our costs from the licensed companies we regulate. Licensees are obliged to pay an annual licence fee which is set to cover our costs.
Our Offshore, New Schemes Development and Environmental Programmes work is funded by the Department for the Environment and Climate Change (DECC).
Where is Ofgem based?
Ofgem has offices in London and Glasgow. The Ofgem Graduate Development Programme will be based at the London office in Westminster, although some travel to the Glasgow office may be required.

What can I expect to do on the Ofgem Graduate Development Programme?
From the start you will have the opportunity to make a real difference. You will be working in all of Ofgem’s main divisions on different rotations. You will also have the opportunity to gain some experience in Europe.
You will be involved in a defined project from day one. Current issues high on the agenda are the security of supply, Wholesale energy prices, regulation of electricity transmission and distribution networks and development of Offshore Electricity Regulation. What salary and benefits do you offer?

The Ofgem Graduate Development Programme lasts 18 months.
What can I expect after completing the Ofgem Graduate Development Programme?
Subject to satisfactory performance and ability you will be offered promotion and conversion to a permanent appointment.
