Hints and Tips for completing the Application Form

Completing application forms can be time consuming not to mention hard work. Follow these simple steps to ensure you make the most of your application.

General Information

1. Read and follow instructions for each section of the form carefully.

2. Check and double check everything you write – once submitted you will not be able to change your application

Completing the Supporting Statement

Your supporting statement should include the following information:

  • Additional Information - other knowledge and experience; scholarships / awards, etc
  • Reasons for Applying - in no more than 300 words you should outline what particularly appeals to you about working for Ofgem and what you could bring to the organisation.
  • Core Competencies - PDF, 98Kb - link opens in a new browser window - please give one example (no more than 300 words per competency) for each of the competencies, from your previous work experience, time at university and hobbies. The evidence of how you went about it is the important thing, not where you take the example from. Set the scene for the example, describe your particular role in it, the steps you took and the skills / strategies you used, the end result, any problems you encountered and how you overcame them.
